Horticultural Therapy: Embrace Winter with Nature
As the days grow short and colder, humans often distance themselves from nature. Join Horticultural Therapists Colleen E. Griffin and Laura Simonds-Rumpf at the Main Library on Monday, December 1st at 2pm, as we connect to and honor all that we receive from the natural world by bringing the outdoors inside.
?Using therapeutic horticulture methods, participants will enhance their well-being through a hands-on activity and come away with a sense of peace and restoration. Participants are welcome to take home their creations from this session.
Colleen E. Griffin, HTR has been practicing horticultural therapy in Southern Maine since 2018 working with both adults and children to enhance health and well-being. Currently, she serves on the faculty of the Horticultural Therapy Institute in Denver, Colorado.
Laura Simonds-Rumpf, HTR, is active with the American Horticultural Therapy Association and served two terms on their Board of Directors. She has worked with many populations since 2015 including those living with dementia and their care partners, veterans, people with brain injury, and those with developmental & intellectual challenges.
