The South Portland Public Library, thanks to the support of the Friends of the South Portland Public Library, is pleased to provide several park, museum and attraction passes for the use of our community.  Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis, to anyone with a current South Portland Public Library card in good standing.

The park, museum, and attraction passes are only valid for the date reserved.

All available passes [except for the Maine State Park Vehicle Pass] may be reserved in advance by calling the Main Library’s Front Desk.

Please read below for the site-specific procedures to receive your passes.

The Maine Wildlife Park passes do not need to be reserved and are available at all times on a walk-in basis.

Passes Offered:

Maine State Park Vehicle Pass

This seasonal pass admits occupants of up to 1 ton/17 passenger vehicle to day use facilities of Maine State Parks and Historic Sites.

Due to high demand for this pass, it may not be reserved in advance and is only available in person at the Main Library

This pass differs from our other passes, as it is a single physical pass which must be returned to the library.  The following use rules apply to the Maine State Park Vehicle Pass:

  • The Maine State Park Vehicle Pass must be returned on or before the SECOND day following checkout (i.e., if checked out on Tuesday the third, it must be returned no later than Thursday the fifth) and can not be renewed.
  • A late fee of $15.00 per day will be applied if the pass is not returned when due.
  • After 7 days overdue, the full replacement amount of $105.00 will be charged.
  • The pass may only be borrowed from, and must be returned to, the Main Library.

Use Exceptions
The Maine State Park Vehicle Pass is not accepted at the following parks: Baxter State Park, The Allagash Wilderness Waterway, The Penobscot River Corridor, The Penobscot Narrows Observatory, the Maine Wildlife Park, Peacock Beach, or Scarborough Beach. The Maine State Park Pass is for day-use only and does not include camping.


Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

This pass provides free admission to the gardens. We can schedule 2 adults and any number of their children per day. Call the Main Library Circulation Desk at 767-7660 to reserve your pass. Please note: this pass is seasonal, and is not available for Gardens Aglow.


Boston Museum of Fine Arts

This pass provides a discounted rate of $10 per person, which includes general admission to the museum as well as special exhibits. Pass is available for up to two adults and four youths (7–17). Admission is always free for visitors under 7 years old. Call the Main Library Circulation Desk at 767-7660 to reserve your pass. Available year round!


Farnsworth Art Museum

This pass provides free admission to the museum. We have four single-person passes available per day. Admission for children 16 and under is always free. Call the Main Library Circulation Desk at 767-7660 to reserve your pass. Available year round!


Portland Museum of Art

This pass provides free admission for up to 2 adults. Admission for everyone age 21 and under is always free. 1 pass available daily. This pass must be reserved in advance by calling the Main Library Circulation Desk at 767-7660. Available year round!


Maine Wildlife Park

These passes provide reduced admission to the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray ($5.00 each for ages 3 and up) for up to 7 people. Passes are available at the Circulation Desk at the Main Library, with no need to reserve in advance. The Maine Wildlife Park accepts payment by cash or check only at the gate. The Maine Wildlife Park is open seven days a week – including holidays – from 9:30am to 4:30pm.


Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine

This pass provides a 50% discount on general admission for up to 4 people. 1 pass available daily. The pass allows attendance to all programs that are free with admission. This pass is not valid for main stage theater productions, paid programs, or members-only events or benefits. Call the Main Library Circulation Desk at 767-7660 or visit in person to reserve your pass.


Portland Observatory

Greater Portland Landmarks will allow the library to gift up to 2 of the designated Portland Observatory Passes each day

The South Portland Library Pass will admit the bearer and up to 3 accompanying members of their party


Self-guided tours are Tuesday and Wednesday, 5 pm to 8pm


Docent led tours are Thursday through Monday, 10 am to 4 pm
