Author Talk with Jule Selbo and Juliana O’Brien
Join local author Jule Selbo and lawyer/writer Juliana O’Brien at the Main Library on Thursday, May 29th at 6pm for a conversation about Jule’s new book 7 Days, A Dee Rommel Mystery.
In 7 Days, Dee Rommel’s past comes back to haunt her when an eccentric purse thief is found dead, and Dee’s boss’s friend dies under suspicious circumstances. Thus begins an exquisitely multi-layered plot that comes together seamlessly to deliver a spine tingling and startling climax.
Jule Selbo left a long and successful career as a produced screenwriter (TV and film) in Los Angeles to move to Maine and focus on writing novels. Her first was a mystery/romance titled Find Me in Florence, (1st Place Chatelaine Award) followed by two historical fiction novels, the first about the amazing experimental physicist Laura Bassi in the 1700s, Breaking Barriers, recipient of a Goethe Award, the other Dreams of Discovery, about Giovanni Caboto (we know him as John Cabot) who, in 1497, sailed under England’s flag and claimed a large portion of the eastern seaboard for King Henry VII. Jule moved into her favorite genre – mystery crime: her Dee Rommel Mystery Series is well underway with the spring 2025 publication of the latest novel, 7 Days, A Dee Rommel Mystery.
Juliana “Jules” O’Brien once spent her days in courtrooms arguing cases and now wrangles tech contracts by day—while plotting dark, twisty fiction by night. A lawyer with a storyteller’s heart, she’s published academic work on law and the messy business of truth, and is currently finishing a novel about the lies we tell—online and to each other—set against the shadowy world of cryptocurrency. She’s thrilled to be in conversation with Jule Sebo to talk about 7 Days and the power of a well-told story.
