Ocean Park and the Chautauqua Movement
Join Chautauqua Trail President Frank Gwalthney at the Main Library on Monday, June 16th at 2pm for a presentation to learn more about the history of Ocean Park, Maine and its beginnings with the Free Will Baptists, as well as the Chautauqua Movement, an adult education and cultural movement which began in the late 1890s.
Frank Gwalthney has always had a love for history and teaching. Frank became a regular visitor to Ocean Park in the summer of 65, and by the mid-70s, he and his wife, Helen, owned a summer cottage in OP. He became active in the Ocean Park Association as well as the Chautauqua Network, and presently serves as President of that organization, now called The Chautauqua Trail.
