The South Portland Public Library is excited to announce that the Bellamy Jazz Band will return for another After Hours concert on Saturday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m. A Maine favorite, the Bellamy Jazz Band knows how to energize an audience!
The Bellamy Jazz Band has been together since 1981 playing traditional New Orleans and Chicago jazz and swing. This award-winning band plays a loose, jamming, Chicago-style jazz ranging from Preservation Hall to early swing standards, street parades and blues. Jazz came roaring out of the twenties with a wild vitality and irreverence, and Bellamy aims to keep it that way!
About the Band
The band features Peter Dunphy on banjo, tenor guitar and vocals; Peter Lord on soprano and tenor saxophone; Scott Thurston on trombone; Bill Thurston on drums; Al Doan on bass; Ray Sapirstein on coronet; and Dave DeBree on tenor saxophone and vocals.
All After Hours concerts are free and open to the public. These concerts are held outside of our usual hours of operation. Please note the library will be closed for regular business during these times. This program is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the South Portland Public Library.
