Join former broadcast journalist Bob Sheppard on Tuesday, June 18th at 6:30pm at the Main Library, as he shares a story of courage and determination featuring his father, James Sheppard through a short documentary, as well as James Sheppard’s own words, family photos and information on two other men connected to Maine who also trained at Alabama’s Tuskegee Army Airfield.

More about James Sheppard:  Longtime South Portland resident James Sheppard, was deployed to Italy during World War ll with the segregated (all-Black, or African American) fighter group that came to be known as the Tuskegee Airmen. He later went on to serve in the US Air Force reserve, and worked almost 30 years for the Federal Aviation Administration based at Portland International Jetport.
