A Visit From the Maine Military Museum’s Lee Humiston

June 12 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Lee Humiston, founder, director and curator of the Maine Military Museum and Learning Center in South Portland, will be visiting the Main Library on Thursday, June 12 at 6pm to talk about the evolution and future of the Museum.

The Maine Military Museum in South Portland is a treasure trove of military history, containing items and artifacts from the Revolutionary War to the current conflicts. This expansive collection includes everything from 18th Century playing cards to an F14 ejection seat, representing every conflict in American history. Every item displayed in the museum is authentic, as historical proof is a prerequisite for being displayed.

Lee Humiston joined the United States Air Force in 1956 and spent the next fifty years of his life serving his country. He has amassed one of the largest collections of prisoner of war (POW) artifacts and related items in the world. Mr. Humiston built the Maine Military Museum & Learning Center with a deep purpose and a desire to honor Maine’s men and women who have served the state and the nation for the last 300 years.
