eBooks and Digital Resources

If you are looking for access to eBooks or digital audiobooks, and other online resources, there are a few options:

  • Maine provides all residents access to the online cloudLibrary service, which includes eBook and digital audiobook downloads.  For residents of Cumberland and York counties, access is provided through the Portland Public Library.  If you do not have a PPL card, you can arrange to obtain a temporary card which will allow you to access their online services by emailing: lending@portlib.org

  • The Digital Maine Library is a vast collection of online resources, also available to all Maine Residents.  Through the Digital Maine Library, you have free access to Ancestry.com (genealogy research), Chilton repair manuals (tinker with your car!), online legal forms and many, many more online resources.
Our favorite?  NoveList Plus, where you can dig deep to find your next favorite book!
  • Project Gutenberg is a library of over 60,000 free eBooks. Choose among free epub and Kindle eBooks, download them or read them online. You will find the world’s great literature here, with focus on older works for which U.S. copyright has expired. Thousands of volunteers digitized and diligently proofread the eBooks, for enjoyment and education.
