Bill Moyers Interview: Why U.S. Internet Access is Slow, Costly, and Unfair
This is a bit of a departure from my usual posts, but if you have about half an hour to spare, this Bill Moyers interview with Susan Crawford, former special assistant to President Obama for science, technology and innovation, is well worth a watch.
The interview discusses the issue of broadband internet connectivity in the United States and why that connectivity is so overpriced and subpar, compared to many parts of the world.
The points made in this interview really make clear the reason why public libraries place such a high priority on providing broadband access to the public.
Susan Crawford’s book, Captive Audience: The Telecom Industry and Monopoly Power in the New Gilded Age, is available as part of the SPPL collection, as well as across the Minerva network.
