Are you dreaming of warmer days? Are you an avid gardener itching to get your hands in the soil? Come find inspiration now as South Portland Public Library welcomes the Maine Sunday Telegram’s “Maine Gardener” columnist, Tom Atwell, for an informative talk on downsizing your garden. The talk will cover how to make your garden more manageable by using different types of plants and techniques. There will be plenty of time for questions.
This program will take place on Thursday, April 19, at 6:00 p.m. at the Main Library.
A Maine native, born in Skowhegan, raised in Farmington, and a graduate of the University of Maine, Tom Atwell has worked for the Press Herald and Maine Sunday Telegram since 1974, around the same time he became a serious gardener. Although he became semi-retired from copy-editing in the fall of 2011, Atwell continues to write weekly columns on gardening and beer. He and his wife Nancy live and garden in Cape Elizabeth. They have two adult children and four grandchildren.
Admission is free. For more information, call 767-7660, and follow us on Facebook for updates and reminders about this program and others. This presentation is supported by the Friends of the South Portland Public Library.
