Genealogy Presentation on Cemetery Symbolism

February 21, 2018 – 12:00 pm

The library’s Genealogy Group will be holding a special presentation on stone symbolism in cemeteries on Wednesday, February 21, from 1-3 p.m. at the Main Library. Janet Morelli, a retired librarian from South Portland High School and cemetery expert at Evergreen Cemetery, will present an informational slideshow on stone symbolism around New England. This program is free and open to the public.

For more information, call Circulation at 767-7660 x 2. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the South Portland Public Library.

This presentation is part of the library’s ongoing genealogy group, led by Mary Lou Fathke. Whether you are a beginner or are hitting a wall with your research, this group will help you explore new resources, learn, teach, and meet new people who are also interested in ancestry.

The group meets monthly on the third Wednesday of each month from 1-3 p.m. in the Community Room at the Main Library. The library has a limited number of laptops available to use for research, or participants can bring their own. For more information, call the Circulation Desk at 767-7660 x 2.
