Join us as we celebrate 50 years of library services to the city of South Portland! In partnership with Greater Portland Landmarks, we will be opening our doors for an informal reception in recognition of our notable midcentury modern building! Stop by to learn about our history, view historical photographs and enjoy some birthday cake and light refreshments. Our children’s staff will be presenting a special “Dream Factory” craft event for kids!
Our open house will follow a lecture, “When Modernism Came to Maine,” by Maine historian Earle W. Shettleworth, Jr., presented by Greater Portland Landmarks at our neighbor, Holy Cross church. The lecture is a ticketed event (more details at Greater Portland Landmarks), with the library’s open house beginning at 4pm.
Please note: library services will not be available during this event
