The Library will be offering a second season of our popular theater program, Acting Up, starting on September 14. Local dance and theater teacher, Betsy Dunphy, will lead students in improvisation, theater games, and character studies. This class will introduce the basics of acting, movement for the stage, and theater skills. Betsy will teach students how to use both their bodies and voices to find the actor in each member of the class as they play and explore through fun, hilarious, intriguing and exciting acting exercises. No experience is necessary, but participants are expected to attend each meeting. The class meets weekly every Thursday from September 14 through November 16.
Registration for Acting Up! is required and will be determined by lottery selection. Children and teens need to sign up by Wednesday, September 6, in order to be put in the lottery. Participants who are selected will be notified on Thursday, September 7. If someone participated in Acting Up! last year and wants to sign up for this session, they will be placed on a waiting list to ensure that newcomers have an opportunity to be part of the class. To register, sign up in person at our Main Library location or call Youth Services at 767-7660 x 3. For questions or more information about the class, contact Betsy at 799-3273.
