Join us for our final After Hours Concert of the season, featuring the jazzy Hadacol Bouncers, on Saturday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Main Library. Enjoy unique New Orleans and Chicago style jazz played with pizzazz!
The Hadacol Bouncers formed in the summer of 2013 for a Portland, Maine Swing Dance festival and have never looked back. They have continued their close association with the dance crowd and are always looking to play for dancers. This unique, upbeat, toe-tapping group plays a hybrid of New Orleans jazz, Chicago style jazz, and stride piano classics. Featuring a traditional lineup of banjo/tenor guitar, piano, tuba, drums, trombone, soprano sax/clarinet and trumpet/cornet, the music is fresh and bright.
Core members of the group include Peter Dunphy on banjo, guitar and vocals; Tom Whitehead on piano, accordion and steel guitar; Bill Rayne on trombone and vocals; Tom Wilbur on tuba; Ray Sapirstein on cornet; and Don Whitney on drums.
Please note that the After Hours shows are held outside of the library’s usual hours of operation, and as such, regular library services are not available during these programs.
Space is limited, so we recommend arriving in advance of the posted start time for each show – the library doors will open 30 minutes prior to show time. Once we reach capacity, the doors will be closed and there will be no further admittance to the library building.
This program is made possible through the support of the Friends of the South Portland Public Library, and admission is free. For more information, call 767-7660 x 2.
